Laser show at Neelam Park a damp squib

BHOPAL: Blame it on the lack of planning or lackluster show, Neelam Park at Jehangirabad, the only laser show auditorium of the state, seems to have lost its charm within three months of its inauguration.
As per the sales report, there has been a constant decrease in the sale of tickets from June to August 2012, officials of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation said, requesting anonymity.
"In June, the amusement park had given a business of Rs 5 lakh. However, the business dropped down to its half in July. August could witness a business of only Rs 1 lakh," BMC sources said. "The laser show here is very monotonous.
According to city residents Mohit Sharma and Ashish Nagar, the corporation should bring up something new every time.
"Kids get bugged watching the same thing again and again. There should be some new concept and theme which the kids can enjoy," Yogita Singh, a resident of Trilanga said.
"Rain is playing the spoilsport and keeping the audience away from the open laser show theatre," BMC commissioner Rajneesh Shrivastava said, adding the crowd will increase once the rains get over.
The BMC had inaugurated this auditorium on June 2, 2012. Inspired by the Lumbini park of Hyderabad, the corporation had spent Rs 1.8 crore for the construction of this park. The amusement park has a musical fountain and a laser show of 25 minutes which depicts the history of Madhya Pradesh.
The show is divided into three parts. First 15 minutes are dedicated to musical fountain which is followed by 5-minute video projection and 5-minute laser show on the history of Bhopal. The park is also equipped with parking facilities for 60 four-wheelers and 100 two-wheelers for the convenience of the audience.
